Russia's Medvedev set for presidency

Two hours after voting finished, a smiling Medvedev walked out of the Kremlin gates alongside Putin and the two men took to the stage at a celebratory concert on Red Square.

"The elections have taken place and our candidate, Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, has a confident lead," the Russian leader said to chants of "Putin! Putin!" from the crowd. "The elections were in strict accordance with the constitution."

Medvedev, dressed in a black leather jacket and blue jeans, promised to stay true to his mentor's policies.

Hot in Fall

The sweaters and coats of winter are classic trenches with a twist, the snug boots have all taken on classic cuts — but with a funky heel, a bright stripe somewhere, or even just a zebra print sole. This season it’s easy to not take fashion too seriously. You won’t find it hard to buy select pieces that suit you, be unbelievably trendy and still look like you’re not trying too hard. The cardinal rule does, of course, apply: do not go for anything that you know doesn’t look good on you. And finally, have fun with it. After all, fashion revolves around a little bit of fun, an abundance of frivolity and a touch of obsession, all to make up the perfect fall wardrobe.

Back to BasicsI am a rare breed. Only a man who enjoys the drudgery of shopping will readily admit his undying appreciation for the perfect suit.

November 2007

When the search was made no one was found and the scene was secured. A County Investigation Officer (CIO) was called for pictures and the SWAT team left. Two marked BPD cars were posted at the intersection of River Road and Wakeby Road during the incident. Barnstable Police detectives are continuing to investigate. Northampton leads Northeast Regionals

The top three wrestlers in each weight class will move on to next week's state tournament in Hershey. Northampton, the District 11 team champion, has nine semifinalists and moved out to an early lead in the overall standings with 501/2 points. Easton is second with 391/2 points, followed by Nazareth (27), Blue Mountain (25) and Jersey Shore (20).

Brown, a 2007 state silver medalist, finished second to Liberty's Anthony Marino last weekend at districts. But the Emmaus wrestler, a two-time state place-winner, also knows how much a weight class can change from districts to regionals. Marino (30-3) had to injury default to Easton's Joey Rizzolino on Friday, leaving Rizzolino to face Pleasant Valley's Jordan Toledo in one semifinal and Brown to meet Northampton's Jordan Glykas in the other.

Attic mold removal a high headache

Q: I am getting a lot of mold in my attic, which contains an air conditioning unit and hydro air that provides heat and air conditioning to the house. The mold is extensive, mainly on the roof sheathing. Two companies have offered to get rid of the mold, one for $2,000, another for $12,000. One man suggested taking up the insulation on the floor, which is not moldy. Why would that be needed, and how in the world could mold removal cost so much and with such a huge difference? What should I do?
TERRIFIED

A: The $12,000 cost is due to the need to use protective clothing and taking many precautions while working, plus the removal of the mold itself, which may be a toxic mold.

See if the $2,000 job will remove the mold, and if so, then you can do other things.
